Challenge:

There is a growing need for the U.S. military to rapidly and effectively train soldiers in increasing their awareness and knowledge of foreign cultures — particularly in the Middle East. When Intelligence Gaming was selected to deliver a training solution to the U.S. Military, we set out with the goals of:

Safely exposing soldiers to real-world cultural situations that involve stress, emotion, and require life or death decision-making.

Preparing personnel who may potentially face real world situations, to become situationally aware of their surroundings.

Enabling military leadership with the ability to assess a soldiers’ readiness prior to their tour of duty in a foreign culture.

Using the RealityV technology, trainees are placed within a completely immersive, 360-degree visual environment supported by state-of-the-art directional, binaural audio. It was recognized early on that existing serious game technology and computer-generated avatars cannot convey the subtleties of human gesture and expression required on this project. RealityV technology delivers an experience second only to “being there.” Through this method of recreating live action, trainees experience stress and are required to make spontaneous and difficult decisions as well as recognize signs of danger.

Solution:

The Immersive Cultural Simulation Project (ICS) is an immersive cultural experience based on RealityV and a customized Adobe Flash Player 10 that runs on nearly all platforms or in enhanced mode with a head mounted display.

“Intelligence Gaming delivers virtual training solutions that take you as close to reality as is possible without actually being there. Our focus is on invention and development in the serious games and training applications space.”
